Construction Metric vs Scopey Onsite

WhatsApp field reporting and contract administration for complex projects, founded in Ireland.

Scopey Onsite starts from the same observation we did: the information that decides cost, time and entitlement starts on site, in WhatsApp messages, voice notes and photos, and too often it never becomes a record anyone can use. Site teams message Scopey on WhatsApp, Scopey turns what they send into structured records and site diaries, and it connects each event to the contract. It was founded in Ireland and works across Ireland, the UK and Australia, with offices in Dublin, London and Melbourne.

Where Scopey is genuinely ahead is the contract layer. Its team sets up each project’s contract, parties and deadlines, across NEC, FIDIC, JCT, PWC, RIAI, the Australian Standard forms and bespoke contracts, and it drafts early warnings, notices and technical queries inside the contractual deadlines for your team to review and issue. It keeps issue, TQ and notice registers, syncs site diaries into Procore, and exports to Word and PDF. Its contract logic was built with construction law and quantity surveying specialists. For a commercial team on a complex project, that is a serious product.

The difference is what reaches the record. Scopey says plainly that it only sees what your team sends it, and never reads, scans or imports existing chats: site teams save Scopey as a WhatsApp contact and message it as work happens. That is a deliberate privacy position, and some firms will prefer it. Construction Metric does the opposite on purpose. Our number sits in the site group the team already uses, with the group’s consent, so the record holds what was actually said, not only what somebody decided to report.

Price is the other split. Scopey licenses annually per project, with company-wide licences for groups, and prices through a demo and a proposal. Construction Metric publishes its price: per site, unlimited users, from £199 a month. If you need contract administration across several standard forms today, Scopey is likely the better fit. If your problem is that the record has gaps, and you want to see the price before you talk to anyone, that is the job we built for.

What Scopey Onsite is best at

Connecting site events to the contract. Site teams send messages, voice notes and photos to a Scopey WhatsApp contact, it asks for missing detail while it is still fresh, and it drafts early warnings, notices and TQs for review under NEC, FIDIC, JCT, PWC, RIAI, Australian Standard and bespoke forms, with site diaries synced into Procore.

Choose Scopey Onsite if

You run complex projects such as data centres, pharma or major programmes, you need notices and TQs drafted across NEC, FIDIC or the Irish and Australian forms today, or Procore is your system of record.

Choose Construction Metric if

You want the whole site group recorded without anyone changing who they message, meetings and email in the same record, and a published per-site price you can see before a sales call.

Common questions

Scopey never reads group chats. Is capturing the group a privacy problem?

It is a choice, and both are defensible. Scopey sees only what is sent to it, which keeps its scope narrow. Construction Metric captures consented project groups, which is how the record ends up holding the instruction given in passing rather than only the updates somebody chose to file. Capture is scoped to the consented group, retention and deletion are under your control, and the full position is on our Security and GDPR page. If your firm would rather the tool saw nothing but deliberate reports, Scopey’s model will suit you better.

Which is better for NEC or JCT contract administration?

Today, Scopey publishes more of it. It drafts early warnings, notices and TQs inside the contractual deadlines for review, across NEC, JCT, FIDIC and the Irish and Australian forms, and its team configures each contract. Our Contract tier loads your contract and amendments and answers questions about them with citations; the notice radar that flags events against your contract clocks is in build. If drafting notices across several standard forms is the deciding need, weigh Scopey heavily.

Scopey does not publish a price. How do the costs compare?

We cannot tell you, because Scopey prices by proposal: an annual licence per project, with company-wide licences for groups and usually a paid initial phase to start. Construction Metric is £199 a site a month at entry with unlimited users, a one-off setup fee per site, one month on a live job and then a six month minimum term. Ask Scopey for a proposal and put the two side by side for your own projects.

Can I run both?

Yes, and on a large project it can make sense: Scopey for contract administration and the Procore sync, Construction Metric underneath for the record of the site group, the meetings and the email. Construction Metric exports everything, so it does not trap your record.
